On the Inside Track: Navigating the Ever-Changing Landscape of College Admissions
Helen Mills Theatre
Saturday September 20, 2008
11AM - 1PM
135 West 26th St. (Btw 6th and 7th Avenues)
As the number of applications to selective colleges continues to reach new heights, so does the level of panic and frenzy surrounding the college admissions process. The Brown Club in New York is proud to host an illuminating seminar with Dean James Miller, Director of Admissions at Brown.
Please note that this is not a college information session but rather an interactive seminar designed specifically to address many of the recent changes in the college admissions process.
During the seminar, Dean Miller will address gender balance, recent shifts in geographic representation, the elimination of early admissions at select institutions, the role of alumni volunteers, radical changes in the financial aid policy (affecting both recipients and non-recipients) and a range of other topics.
Keep in mind that Dean Miller brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the areas of colleges admissions and financial aid at distinguished academic institutions such as Bowdoin and Harvard. This a unique opportunity to get real answers to your questions from someone on the inside track of college admissions.
This event is open to alumni, family, and friends. Parents are encouraged to bring their children and attend as a family.
Cost: $60 per family.
Space limited!!!

AFFILIATE EVENT: Brown Classes of the 1980’s Homecoming Cocktail Reception
Viva (Providence, RI)
Saturday September 27, 2008
3:30-5:30 p.m
234 Thayer Street at Angell Street, Providence, RI
Cocktails & Appetizers after the Homecoming Football Game (cash
bar)
Come reminisce with your fellow Brown '80s classmates about the days
when…
“The Boss” was Bruce Springsteen, not the guy you work for
Space Invaders was the pinnacle of video games
The Celtics ruled the Old Garden
And collectively, we all traveled “Back to the Future.”
Come hoist a glass to the days when
Keeney Quad was still West Quad
Pluto was still a planet
“Planet Claire” was a hit single
And “single” referred to a malt scotch, not a relationship status.
Come remember when a bar called “Viva” was still SPATS
The Rocky Horror Picture show starred Tim Curry not John Travolta
Google was a large number, not the ruler of the planet
